Summer Activities

The time of year for family vacations and lazy days with friends on the beach is finally here. Traverse City blooms in the summer. Hanging out at the beach or on a boat is a popular thing to do in the summer. Off the water, you can also visit one of our famous outdoor wineries, tour the regions beautiful countryside, climb a sand dune, or spend hours roaming Northern Michigan’s cherry-planted country roads in search of roadside fruit stands.

Boating

While Lake Michigan is an enormous lake, you’ll be surprised at how accessible boating the water can be. Bring your own boat and park it offshore, or rent a boat. A wide variety of boats are available for rent, including pontoon boats, jet boats, jet skis, and more. Boat rentals are available just outside the resort.

Rent a boat for an hour, an afternoon, or an entire day and experience the lake on your own terms.

Lake Michigan fishing is one of the best ways to relax and enjoy mother nature. The cold, clear water makes it perfect for trolling or try jigging for whitefish or walleye using live bait like nightcrawlers or minnows.

Go for a round of golf: During the summer, when many of America’s golf courses are at their hottest (and most humid), Grand Traverse, Leelanau, and Benzie counties’ golf courses are cool and pleasant all day long. Plus, summer days in Traverse City are longer than they are in Southern states. Because we sit on the western edge of the eastern time zone, and Traverse City is so far north that daylight can last until nearly 10 p.m. on a midsummer night.

Go to the beach: We have the perfect beach combo with white sugar sand, endless sunshine, and no salt or humidity. The views looking out over the bays are always postcard-worthy. Stroll the shoreline, or jump in the water and get wet. The fresh coast will provide joyful memories that will keep you coming back.

Explore The Region: Traverse City is surrounded by endless beauty and interesting towns. Take the scenic routes to quaint villages, port towns, lighthouses and beaches. Pack a lunch and drive the coast along M-22 or M-37 to see the Leelanau or Old Mission Peninsulas. Both end at legendary lighthouses.

Go For a Walk Downtown: Our downtown is the central hub of Traverse City life. It’s tree-shaded, pedestrian-friendly, and is a ‘must-see’ destination on your visit. Downtown is charming but not small. There are over 150 fascinating boutiques, restaurants, coffee shops and galleries, and lots of places to sit and relax.

Beautiful, perfect location This time we stayed in a 1 bedroom. The place is very luxurious, even for 3 people. We loved the fireplace. The Lodge staff is very friendly and helpful. They are a delight to work with. Free coffee and tea is provided, plenty of games provided free (board games, chess, puzzles, etc.)
