Spring Activities

Hello, spring! Traverse City is a great destination in the spring because it is blossom time. The forests and cherry orchards overlooking Grand Traverse Bay are in full bloom throughout April and May. Springtime is the perfect ‘fresh coast’ combination of natural beauty and temperate climate.

Boating

Traverse City’s beautiful blue water has long drawn boat enthusiasts. The twin arms of Grand Traverse Bay, sheltered by rolling hills, combine the benefits of deep water with protection from the weather. Boating in Traverse City is truly unique for its accessibility. With slips perched right downtown, you’ll be able to boat, dine and shop without breaking a sweat.

Whether you’re looking for some daytime fun on the water or want to nestle into a slip and stay awhile, Traverse City is a boater’s dream.

Stay With Us

Traverse City is a place where spring fever hits hard. The hiking and biking trails that wind through the woods, vineyards, and orchards begin to open up, and the golf courses begin to open for play. A great way to enjoy the spring weather is by spending time on one of Traverse City’s many beaches. There are also plenty of parks in Traverse City where you can have a picnic or play some sports. If you’re looking for something to do indoors, there are plenty of options too. Traverse City has many museums, art galleries, and theaters. You can also go shopping or visit one of the local wineries.

Spring is a time for celebration in Traverse City. The snow has melted (this time for good), and the locals are ready to put away the snow gear and break out the shorts and t-shirts. There are several excellent ways to enjoy spring ‘up north’ whether you want to hike, bike, sip, or cast.

Cherry Blossom Tour: The cherry orchards come alive in the spring. Did we mention that Traverse City is home to over a million cherry trees? And they all blossom at once. You need to get here to see it! Flowers start to appear in May.

Wine Tours: May is Michigan Wine Month, and we celebrate all month during Traverse City Uncorked. Moderated by the massive waters of Lake Michigan, our wines are fruit-forward, exciting, and beautifully balanced.

Catch Some Fish: Our region is a must-visit destination for freshwater fishing enthusiasts. Lake Michigan’s clear blue waters and lakes make us a top destination for fly fishing and charter fishing.

Watch The Sun Set: The days start to get longer, and it creates enough time to plan an outing to one of our many beaches and parks to watch the sun drop.

Eat Local: Let’s just get this right out of the way: Traverse City is a foodie town. There are a million great spots to eat like a local. Unsure what to try? Just ask us, and we’ll give you the inside scoop.

Beautiful, perfect location This time we stayed in a 1 bedroom. The place is very luxurious, even for 3 people. We loved the fireplace. The Lodge staff is very friendly and helpful. They are a delight to work with. Free coffee and tea is provided, plenty of games provided free (board games, chess, puzzles, etc.)
